Aubrie Businger, Mills
Helped the Vikings win three of four games and place second in the Monterey Sweet Sixteen tournament, averaging 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. Businger also recorded 22 steals and surpassed 1,000 points scored for her high school career..
Sean Orr, Westmoor
Scored 40 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 57-49 win over Monta Vista. Also scored 30 with 13 rebounds and five assists in a 67-51 win against Pioneer and 21 points with 10 rebounds a 54-51 loss against Cupertino in the Monta Vista tournament championship game.
East Bay athletes of the week
Nadia Ngom, Head-Royce
Helped extend Head-Royce’s winning streak to three games by totaling four goals and four assists over two matches. Ngom contributed two goals and two assists in a 6-0 win over San Marin and registered to same stat line two days later in a 6-0 victory against San Leandro..
Jeremy Ridge, Acalanes
Weight class: Middle weights
Won the 145-pound championship at the Lou Bronzan Invitational and was named the tournament’s most outstanding middleweight wrestler. Four days later, Ridge moved up to 152 pounds at the California Coast Classic and placed second by going 10-1.
